Privacy Policy

This policy explains, in plain English, what information PrepDone collects when you use the service, why we collect it, how we use it and the choices you have.

Last updated: 10 September 2026

Who we are

PrepDone is operated by Resources and consultancy Ltd, a UK company providing the PrepDone GCSE science revision platform covering AQA Combined Science and AQA Separate/Triple Science.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your information, contact us at support@prepdone.co.uk.

What information we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address. Your password is handled securely by our authentication provider and is not stored by PrepDone as readable text. We also record basic account information such as when your account was created and whether your email address has been confirmed.

Trial and subscription information

We record when your 3-day free trial starts and ends and, if you subscribe, information such as your subscription status, billing-period dates and whether cancellation is pending.

AI usage records

When you use an AI-supported feature such as Practice, Challenge, marking or Explain Again, we may record the type of request, subject and topic, model used, token usage, estimated cost and whether the request succeeded or failed.

These records help us operate the service, monitor reliability and manage usage and costs.

We do not store the text of your practice answers as part of these AI usage logs.

Support messages

If you use our Contact & Support form, we store the name, email address, subject and message you provide so that we can respond to you.

Free-trial protection

A random identifier may be stored in your browser and used when a free trial is started. This provides an additional signal to help prevent repeated misuse of free trials. It is not intended to identify who you are and does not contain personal details.

Information kept on your device

Your revision progress, confidence ratings, Foundation or Higher tier selection and in-progress practice answers are currently stored in the browser you are using rather than in PrepDone's account database.

This means that your progress is saved on the device and browser you are using at the time.

If you clear that browser's stored data, use another browser or move to another device, that locally stored progress may not be available there.

How we use your information

We use personal information only where necessary to operate PrepDone, including to create and secure accounts, provide trials and subscriptions, deliver revision and AI-supported features, monitor reliability and misuse, and respond to support requests.

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not use your personal information for third-party targeted advertising.

Our lawful bases for using your information

UK data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for processing personal information. The basis depends on what we are doing with the information.

For the core PrepDone service, we generally process information because it is necessary to provide the service you have requested, including creating and managing your account, providing your trial or subscription and delivering revision features.

We may also rely on our legitimate interests where appropriate, including protecting PrepDone from fraud or misuse, maintaining security and reliability, monitoring service costs and responding to enquiries, provided those interests do not override your rights and interests.

Third-party services

PrepDone uses trusted service providers to operate the platform.

Lovable Cloud

Provides hosting, database and authentication services. It stores information including account, trial, subscription, AI-usage and support-message records.

AI services

PrepDone uses AI models through the Lovable AI Gateway, currently including Google Gemini models. Information necessary to answer a request — such as the subject, topic, tier and any answer submitted for marking — may be sent to the AI service so it can generate questions, explanations, marking or feedback.

Stripe

Stripe handles subscription payments. Card information is entered directly into Stripe's payment system. PrepDone does not receive or store your full card number. We receive information necessary to manage access, such as subscription status and billing dates.

Some service providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we take appropriate steps with our service providers to protect personal information in accordance with applicable UK data-protection requirements.

AI and automated processing

PrepDone uses AI to provide revision questions, explanations, marking and feedback.

These features are learning aids. AI-generated marking or feedback is not an official AQA decision and is not used by PrepDone to make legal or similarly significant decisions about a student.

Age and students

PrepDone is designed for GCSE students, many of whom are under 18.

We aim to collect only the information needed to provide the service. We do not sell children's information or use it for targeted advertising.

We do not currently ask users for their date of birth or operate a separate age-verification step during sign-up.

If you are a parent or carer and would like us to review or remove an account used by your child, contact support@prepdone.co.uk.

Security and retention

PrepDone uses managed, access-controlled systems to protect information held by the service.

Sensitive records such as subscription information, AI-usage records and support messages are not available to other students.

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to operate and protect the service, resolve support requests, and meet any applicable legal, financial or regulatory requirements.

If you ask us to delete your personal information, we will do so where we are legally able to. We may need to retain limited information where required for legal, regulatory, fraud-prevention or financial-record purposes.

Your rights

Under UK data-protection law, depending on the circumstances and the lawful basis being used, you may have rights including access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of processing, objection to processing and data portability.

Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, you have the right to object to that processing. You can contact us at support@prepdone.co.uk.

To make a request, email support@prepdone.co.uk, preferably from the email address registered with your PrepDone account.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you are unhappy with how your information has been handled.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when PrepDone changes or when the way we handle information changes.

For example, if revision progress later becomes stored against your PrepDone account rather than only in your browser, we will update this policy accordingly.

The latest version and its date will always be shown on this page.
